The Origin of the name "Chameleon"

 - Joel Hilchey
People consistently ask about the quartet's name, so they wanted to share its origin.  A chameleon is a small to mid-size reptile belonging to the lizard family.  However, the members of Chameleon aren't reptiles at all, and they're thankful for it.
“The name suited us for other reasons,” said Dave.  “For instance, chameleons are renowned for their colour-changing abilities.  Similarly, we try to be adaptable to any occasion.”
Jordan added, “Plus, most of us, with the exception of Joel, of course, wear different clothes from day to day.  We figured that was kind of like changing colours.”  Joel nodded in agreement.
Kevin remarked, “Chameleons also have long sticky tongues.  Joel can touch his to his nose.”
“And I once swallowed a fly after sticking out my tongue.” Joel said, happy to have a story to tell.
“I know an old woman who swallowed a fly,” claimed Dave, but the writer believes he was just citing folklore.
Jordan, attempting to get the conversation back on topic, discussed how chameleons also live in trees or bushes.  “But we're not well equipped for tree-life.”
Joel concurred. “We'd need split toes and curly tails, and we don't have those, or at least not the feet.”
Kevin asked, “Did you know that chameleons sit still for hours at a time and wait for their food to approach them?”  The other three guys seemed surprised at this trivia.
“That really doesn't describe me well at all.”  Joel said.  “I like to graze at buffet tables.”
Jordan chimed in: “Cows graze.  You're really more like a pig with food.”
“I'd say you eat like a horse.” Dave said.
“And you're about as picky as a goat.” Kevin continued, “Didn't you try eating play-doh last month?”
“That's irrelevant,” concluded Joel.  “Look, we didn't want to name ourselves '3 Stooges and a Cow-Horse-Goat'.  That name has no ring to it at all.  We named ourselves Chameleon because chameleons are awesome.  People think they're interesting.  They're 'cool cats', so to speak.”
“Cool Cats..” the other three repeated.  “That would have been a much better name...”

The writer begs to differ.  He suggested the name “Inappropriate Analogy”.
